Yes — you can use Contract Scanner completely free with up to 5 analyses per month (Chrome extension). No credit card required.
No. The extension only reads the text of the page when you explicitly click "Analyze." It does not monitor your browsing, read emails, or access any page you haven't chosen to analyze.
The contract text is sent to our AI backend for analysis, but it is not stored after the analysis is complete. The resulting risk report (score and clause summaries — not the original text) is stored in your history if you are signed in. See our Privacy Policy.
No. Contract Scanner provides general information for educational purposes. It does not constitute legal advice and should not replace consultation with a qualified attorney for important legal matters.
We use DeepSeek by default — a state-of-the-art large language model. Pro users get priority access. You can also bring your own API key in Settings to use any OpenAI-compatible model.
The browser extension works in Google Chrome (version 116+) and other Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Brave, and Arc. Contract Scanner is also available as a standalone desktop app (Windows/macOS/Linux) — no browser required.
Yes! Contract Scanner is available as a desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux (built with Electron). It shares the same AI analysis engine as the Chrome extension and supports the same Pro subscription.
The desktop app can be configured to use your own API key (DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, or any compatible provider). In that mode, your contract text is sent directly to your chosen AI provider — no traffic goes through our servers. A self-hosted backend URL is also supported.
Yes. A single Pro subscription unlocks unlimited analyses on both Chrome and Desktop simultaneously. Sign in with the same account and everything syncs automatically.
